OUT OF HOURS
To access GP services outside of the above normal surgery telephone opening times please telephone on 111. Out of hours services are generally busy so please think carefully before asking to see a doctor and only do so if you genuinely cannot wait until the surgery re-opens. Calls to 111 are free from landlines and mobiles.
If you have a life threatening condition you should call 999 immediately. Chest pains and / or shortness of breath constitute an emergency.
NHS 111 is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Calls are free from landlines and mobile phones.
When to use it
You should use the NHS 111 service if you urgently need medical help or advice but it's not a life-threatening situation.
Call 111 if:
How does it work?
The NHS 111 service is staffed by a team of fully trained advisers, supported by experienced nurses and paramedics. They will ask you questions to assess your symptoms, then give you the healthcare advice you need or direct you straightaway to the local service that can help you best. That could be A&E, an out-of-hours doctor, an urgent care centre or a walk-in centre, a community nurse, an emergency dentist or a late-opening chemist.
Where possible, the NHS 111 team will book you an appointment or transfer you directly to the people you need to speak to.
If NHS 111 advisers think you need an ambulance, they will immediately arrange for one to be sent to you.
Calls to 111 are recorded. All calls and the records created are maintained securely, and will only be shared with others directly involved with your care.
A pharmacy will always be open in Bath on Sundays and Bank Holidays between 11:00am to 12:00pm and 6:00pm to 7:00pm.
Patients who are deaf, hard of hearing or speech impared can contact the NHS111 or NHSDirect service by using their Textphone, dialling 18001 111.
Please note that we are closed on Saturdays during bank holiday weekends. When the surgery is closed, the Pulteney Pharmacy is also closed.
Approximately one afternoon bi-monthly, the practice's telephones are closed. This is due to staff training. Generally, the surgery will remain open for visiting patients on these afternoons but our telephone service will be closed with a message advising to call NHS111.
During these closures, in case of an emergency, please call 999. If your enquiry is not urgent, but can't wait until the following morning, please call NHS111 by dialling 111 on your telephone.
The following dates are scheduled telephone closure afternoons:-
Tuesday 15th January 2019
Wednesday 20th March 2019
